Kampala Slum Mobile Cinema Outreach

The Kampala Slum Mobile Cinema Outreach, now in its second edition, is an inspiring initiative designed to deliver entertainment, education, cultural enrichment, and awareness to underserved communities in Uganda. Operating in two slums in Entebbe and three in Kampala, our custom-built Mobile Cinema Van—equipped with state-of-the-art projection and sound systems—brings the magic of cinema to these areas.

Kampala Slum Mobile Cinema Limited is a duly registered company in Uganda (Registration No: 80034221100886) dedicated to community development and empowerment through innovative film projects and projections. Our team comprises of passionate individuals with diverse expertise in film production, Curation, event organization, community engagement, and social impact initiatives. While we have a successful track record of producing and screening films aimed at uplifting marginalized communities, our current project marks our second edition focusing on utilizing mobile outdoor cinema for social change.

Throughout November 2024, on Fridays and Saturdays, we will host open-air film screenings followed by engaging discussions on human rights topics, aiming to reach over 5,000 attendees. Each session includes post-screening dialogues to inspire community participation and empower individuals with knowledge and advocacy tools. These discussions amplify marginalized voices, promoting a more inclusive and equitable society where rights are respected.

Meet our Team

Leading our team is Roja Matelja Mugabirwe, a Lawyer and Filmmaker, alongside Meme Kagga, an award wining Producer, Production Manager and an Engineer, as well as, Geoffrey Kasozi, an award winning Director and Technical Director and 10 other Crew/Staff members, who bring a wealth of experience in film production and community engagement, ensuring the success and impact of our initiatives.

Undoubtedly, our dedication to harnessing the power of film to address pressing social issues and promote positive change within our communities is resolute. With our collective expertise and experience in creating inclusive and impactful experiences, we are committed to advocating for human rights through our work.
